Jean Rondeau is what you would call a Le Mans legend, but he didn't start out straight away in his own winning cars, rather he was a driver alongside Brian Robinson in a Guy Edwards entered Chevron B21 in 1972 in which the pair qualified a very creditable 15th. Unfortunately whilst the race pace was good, and they led the class for the first few hours reaching a best position of 13th, engine issues meant they would drop away to a low point of 40th at quarter distance and whilst they did improve gaining 5 places over the next three hours it was all over after 9 hours and 76 laps.

I was quite taken with this car, so much so I added one myself in recent years (though it may have been on the old forum). Understand that, it's a looker for sure

Love the wedge, the livery seems a bit haphazard. No designer was consulted. Trofeu does a great job at modelling what nobody else does, excellent for the serious LM collector.

As a Rondeau fan this one definitely gets a positive vote.

While the Chevron may not be one of those instantly recognisable Le Mans classics, the Jean Rondeau link makes it very desirable.

Absolutely not, sponsors stickers were placed wherever a suitable sized spot was available! Yes they do and the bonus is that their models are very good, a match for what China has to offer and they are one of the few who are not manufactured over there

Same for me on this one

Pierre Maublanc entered his Schnitzer BMW powered 2 litre Chevron B23 into Le Mans 1973 for himself and Robert Mieusset in the 2 litre sports category, and the pair would qualify 17th over all and 2nd in class. The first few hours went well with the pair reaching a high of 10th but then around quarter distance they began to experience engine issues, and they would drop away to 18th by 6 hours in and then in the 8th hour retire from 38th when the engine failed after 90 laps.

Same category as above, starting to attract me more and more... this really is a great-looking type of racer, it looks fast even when standing still. Never mind the DNF, just look and enjoy.

Looks like a race car and sponsored by a model car company. What's not to like?

The Norev sponsored car has always been one of my favourite Chevrons. I'm not sure if you're aware, but the team had a small van that wore a matching livery. Back in the day, Norev actually made a model of the van. It's a little basic as you'd expect for its age, but if you could find one it could probably be easily upgraded with some better wheels from one of the part-works truck and a bit of paint.

A cursory search shows quite a number of 'Cotes Du Rhone' Norev 'Racing' vans with variations on the above livery though a knackered one is 50 quid and a really nice one, though not exactly the same as above, is well north of 100 quid. If I stumble across one, I might

Michel Dupont entered a Chevron B23 with Ford FVC 2 litre power for himself and Paul Blancpain at Le Mans in 1973 and the pair would qualify 49th. This position belied their pace as they gained 5 places in the first hour and would be running 34th by quarter distance and 28th by halfway. Whilst they did gain further places, issues with the gearbox meant that these were as a result of attrition and whilst they reached a high point of 22nd after 20 hours they were now by now third from last and the following hour they would drop to the back of the field and then out when the gearbox gave way after 229 laps.
