Can't disagree with that synopsis Tom.
Despite the shortened wheelbase it still had the engine out over the front wheels so the weight distribution was never going to be right from the offset and with that shorter wheelbase it was also going to be twitchy. Required a certain style i think
Required insanity rather than style i think. That is an absolute belter of a model, event, driver combo. For sure, witness the Pikes Peak runs in these. It's certainly one i'm pleased they made/i've added

Chris Lord started his career in Vauxhalls and would first enter the RAC Rally in 1974 where he would score a creditable 42nd home, and he would continue to compete in the British series and of course the RAC all the way through to 1989. 1978 saw him team up with co-driver Ron Varley who was in his first full season for the first time and the pair would be back together in 1980 where they came home 12th on the RAC Rally that year. 1981 saw Lord in Talbot Sunbeams, and he would compete for 2 seasons with a variety of co-drivers claiming a 13th and 14th in the RAC before reuniting with Varley in 1983 for the season using a Mazda RX-7 in which the pair managed only 1 finish across the season. 1984 saw Lord & Varley separate with Lord competing in a Golf GTi up until he acquired an ex-David Sutton Motorsport A1 Quattro for the RAC that year and he and Varley would come home 16th overall before embarking on a campaign in the British Championship for 1985. The season started well with the pair racking up a 2nd, 4th and 7th before a series of DNFs brought them to the RAC Rally. Unfortunately this was to be another DNF as on only the 4th stage the head gasket failed, ending their rally. Lord and Varley kept competing in the Quattro for 1986 & 1987 before switching to Ford power for 1988 & 89.

AudiSport livery looks ace on silver! Superb, as usual. You must have more versions of this registration by now...

Surely there is a quattro in rallying book in you Andy - if anyone has a more extensive 1:43 collection of these beasts I would be very surprised!
I kinda like this one, being a bit different as far as the livery colours go.

I find these privateer Audi's a lot more interesting than the works cars, even if they didn't run at the head of the field. I see from google this car is only part of the story and you also have the #19 and #40 versions of this car from other rallies. You probably have the world's biggest collection of Chris Lord models .

Pretty certain i could put together a rally by rally display for just this car Quite attractive! I'm still not convinced that you haven't been hijacked when i read such a reply Surely there is a quattro in rallying book in you Andy - if anyone has a more extensive 1:43 collection of these beasts I would be very surprised! I kinda like this one, being a bit different as far as the livery colours go. There would be if it hadn't already been written. I know there are some other Q fanciers out there with extensive collections too
As above, brown over silver. Who knew

I enjoy picking them up and learning about the guys who ran these from their own pocket. Some of them on occasion gave the works team a real run for their money
I do indeed have this car from 1 year later and then its 87 outing on the National Breakdown which are both code 3s. There may well be other Lord Qs out there
As above who knew silver and brown works

Barron Connor Racing entered two Ferrari 575 GTCs into the GTS Class at Le Mans in 2004 with the No.61 car being driven by the trio of John Bosch, Danny Sullivan & Thomas Biagi who would qualify 31st over all and last in class but unfortunately due to late issues with the engine they would start from the pit line. Qualifying had not perhaps shown their true pace, as they were up to 31st by the end of the first hour and in 15th by quarter distance. Half distance would see them in 13th but shortly thereafter a brake fire brought them in and the resultant stop for a change of uprights saw them drop to 28th however it didn't cure the issue, and they dropped to near the back of the field, finally retiring after 16 hours and 163 laps from 34th place.

One of the best looking Ferraris, front or mid-engine, race or street in recent memory!

Shame about the result. I guess John Bosch driving makes me a fan of this one.

Nice model even if I’ve never been a fan of that Ferrari.

It's a Red Line, it's a Ferrari with numbers, and it has the engine in the front - Wonderful.

One of the best looking Ferraris, front or mid-engine, race or street in recent memory! I agree Brooks, the 550 series to my eye are rather good looking cars Shame about the result. I guess John Bosch driving makes me a fan of this one. Mr.Bosch was the bonus. What made me a fan was the erroneous description that meant it slipped under the radar and into my hands for a rsther good price
Nice model even if I’ve never been a fan of that Ferrari. Thanks Julio It's a Red Line, it's a Ferrari with numbers, and it has the engine in the front - Wonderful. Scores very highly on those points here as well

I was quite taken with this car, so much so I added one myself in recent years (though it may have been on the old forum).
