I say collection only loosely, I do not "collect" knives, they are tools that I use. The only collecting aspect of it is it is just like buying model cars for me, I no sooner get one that another catches my eye. I really have to show restraint. Here are my Gerbers, most are budget friendly, I use them at work, If I lose or break one it is not the end of the world. The bigger ones here are a bit more upmarket. The mini machete and the camping knife are in my hiking/camping pack Next are Kershaw knives, they deliver a great knife at a fair price. they are all US made which is their premium line. If I am not at work I have one of these with me. Except the blue one, that is what I use for opening packages. A couple of inexpensive Smith and Wesson branded knives. One came for free and one I carry in my portable tool box. The free one (tan handle) hangs from a chain you wear around your neck. This next group I have had for over 40 years. They are made by 2 long time American knife makers, Case and Buck. The bigger Case was in a car I bought many years ago. And my latest (and first knife purchase in about a year), this is a budget knife that I was always curious about, I was walking thru a Home center store and saw it marked way down and had to have it. CRKT Squid I have a bunch of other knives that are nothing special. The only time I use them is if I think I might break or lose it. Mostly they just live in a box out in the garage.

Gerber are knives made up the road from here in Portland. Other than a set of steak knives, I don't have any of their other knives sadly. I always carry a folding knife with me, an essential tool for country life. I gave up buying very expensive ones, as I'm too likely to leave one sitting on a post or somewhere else out in the rain. 😁 I do have a couple antler handled knives that are more decorative than functional. They protect my sock drawer. 😄

Like Jerry, the few knives I have were given as gifts and are covered in lint in the top sock drawer. However, I use the following almost daily for many tasks - it looks ordinary, but it just another great example of Japanese design and build quality - have about 8 of these with thousands of hours of use.
Olfa Utility Knife

I have a lot of those too, they're great. And one Swiss army knife, inherited from my father, which I mostly use to open packaging.

A bit off to know that I have had a knife in my pocket non stop for about 50 years. Like Jerry, the few knives I have were given as gifts and are covered in lint in the top sock drawer. However, I use the following almost daily for many tasks - it looks ordinary, but it just another great example of Japanese design and build quality - have about 8 of these with thousands of hours of use. Olfa Utility Knife I have the cheap $.99 cent version of this all over the house and garage. When I was working out of the Roofing and siding warehouse, these were very plentiful as they came in every carton of insulation. I have a lot of those too, they're great. And one Swiss army knife, inherited from my father, which I mostly use to open packaging. I have one that I inherited from my Grandfather that just gathers dust in the safe. I have a few. For at least 60 years I have carried a 'Swiss Army' pocket knife with me. My Grandfather, Father, and Uncles were all practical types and always had pen knives so I followed their habit. It's never been a problem.
I did forget to leave it at home once and cursed when I lost one 'Swiss Army' knife at the local airport, setting the metallic objects alarm off! Very ironic as I was going from our local airport to Geneva for the Motor Show!!
Being grey haired and of 'elderly' appearance it didn't halt my progress once I'd been relieved of the offending article....
The day after my return home I bought a new one to replace the 'confiscated' one.

I have a couple of much larger SA knives, that I inherited from my Dad, and use them frequently!

I've had a small penknife hidden in a fake key, that's been with me on all my travels since 1985.

Buck 110 is an absolute classic. Yet my favorite Buck is your 120. On my bucket list.
I have a peanut that was carried by my Grandfather for many decades, need to take some pics.

Buck 110 is an absolute classic. Yet my favorite Buck is your 120. On my bucket list. I have a peanut that was carried by my Grandfather for many decades, need to take some pics. I'd like to see that. As you can probably tell from the pocket wear that the stag peanut is with me every day (and has been for decades). I had a scare just after 9-11 in that I went to the airport and they told me I couldn't take my pocket knife on the plane. I got an envelope from the check-in counter and stamps from a machine and mailed it back to myself. Case is now selling "pocket worn" peanuts because of the popularity of the older knives in the secondary market.
When my nephew graduated from college I gave him a peanut with a purple bone handle (his school colors).
The 110 was my father-in-laws knife. I've had the 120 for over 30 years. Both of them are jewels.
