This is mine, it used to belong to my late father. As you can see it could do with a clean- that is glue residue from opening packages on the blade.

These are my Swiss Army knives. The funny thing is that I didn’t buy none of them, they were either gifts or were inherited! My father gave me the one with the keys, about 30 or so years ago (and it’s evident that it has had a tough life)! The other was my Dad’s! Then, I inherited all these when he passed away (by the way, it was 10 years last Thursday)! This one is my favourite! It’s small but slightly thicker because it has more things; it’s really useful! I’m showing it next to the one with the keys for you to see that they’re practically the same size. I have two of the bigger ones. My father gave me the one at the top about 30 years ago, when he bought a newer one to replace it, shown at the bottom. The medium one in between them is the one I use the least. He had an even thicker Swiss Army knife but my brother has it now. This other tool, with knives and other things, was also my Dad’s! He loved this one and I hardly ever use it! Well! Sorry for hijacking your thread, Jeff! It’s good to see that you’ve bought your first Swiss Army knives!

Both Tom and Julio have a great remembrance of their Dads which is fantastic. It really connects you to a person to have something that was so personal.
The Key chain knives really punch above their weight when it comes to usefulness. I have the one that is a little thicker, it has an extra tool in it (bottlle opener/phillips screwdriver.

After seeing the pictures I posted of my Grandfathers knife, I felt kind of bad seeing the condition it was in. I did not want to "restore" it but I wanted to give it a good re freshening Very pleased with the results as it looks much better but is still Grandpa's knife. Before After some metal polishing,

Every few months, a local auction house sells off items confiscated from flyers at the local airport. Current bidding on this set of 20 is +/-USD35: Also US$35 for these: US$27 for these: I never knew so many people travelled with Swiss Army knives.

There are tons of sellers offering large lots of them or resellers who bought a bunch and are selling them in small groups of 1-2 or 3 at a time. I have bought a few from them. 1/3 or retail, why not. I actually enjoy sanding out the scratches and buffing them out. Here is one I picked of for $14 shipped, it was very dull looking but it cleaned up nicely. The Hiker

Yes, I used to have one but stopped carrying it in my pocket for my air travel and never put it back. Since I inherited my Dad's knife I use it nearly every day.

Nice to see you beaten by the Swiss Army bug, Jeff! I love mine, they’re so helpful! I have and I cannot say seeing your group of them did not have any influence. But I have been giving away the ones that I do not see myself using, buying them on the cheap and bringing them back to top condition is the attraction here. Like anything, "collecting" them to excess would be a very easy rabbit hole to fall into. I have to remind myself they are tools and not things to look at. Yes, I used to have one but stopped carrying it in my pocket for my air travel and never put it back. Since I inherited my Dad's knife I use it nearly every day. Air Travel has caused a great many small pocket knives to flood the system, both as used as in Ian's post and in people replacing the one that they lost You have the best knife one could ever hope for then.

Cool!
It’s really satisfying to unexpectedly find things that got lost long time ago!
