Ford Broadmeadows Tribute by IFHP97, on Flickr Last week Ford announced that they will be closing all of their Australian factories in 2016. This photo is a tribute to Ford's principle car factory at Broadmeadows (Melbourne) which opened in 1959. I may have been mistaken by including Anglias, Cortinas, Escorts, and a Capri in this set, as some, or all, of these models were actually assembled at Ford's Homebush plant near Sydney. Can anyone shine some light on this? Ford Broadmeadows Tribute by IFHP97, on Flickr I used a few LHD models like this F-100 as stand-ins for Aussie spec models. 1934 Ford Coupe Utility Replica by Classic Carletibles Model 40 Ford Coupe Utility Replica by Classic Carlectables by IFHP97, on Flickr When I discovered this model on e-bay a few weeks ago, I had three rapid responses: Excitement to find a 1934 Ford Coupe Utility, Surprise to discover it was released in 2003 and I had not been aware of it until now, and Disappointment that it is a rendering of the Lew Bandt replica (see the “C”pillars) and not an authentic 1934 Ute. All the same, it is a beautifully detailed rendering by Classic Carlectibles. There is also a “Tacoma Cream” colored version that is the same the actual replica (that was on display at the Ford Discovery Centre in Geelong before it closed). I would have preferred that color, but it sold for three times as much money as this one. Bottom line, I am happy to add it to my international Ford collection. XA Ford Falcon GT by Trax, Opal Series XA Ford Falcon GT by Trax, Opal Series by IFHP97, on Flickr This model took a long time to find at at a reasonable price. Trax produced these in three colors, this Chili Pepper Red, a yellow color and Violet. In theory, Trax could bring one out in another color at any time. The was the last model that I needed in order to have an example of every "X" series Aussie Falcon in my collection. Holden Trax by Trax Holden Trax by Trax by Michael, on Flickr This month Trax is giving these away when you order four or more heavily discounted 1:43 die-cast models. Basically you have to take one. I guess the Trax was wildly over optimistic when they ordered these AU $99.00 models a couple of years ago.
