I have a similar book about myths. Very interesting to read. Indeed!

These were added in 2011: 124A very thin book about one of my favourite contemporary artists. 125This is quite a delightful, small book with lots of really cool small houses! Bought at a local Costco. 126I bought this one at a local flea market. It’s not that good but it was cheap and it’s signed by one of the artists! 127This is a two volume work with lots of fabulous contemporary artists! A great gift from a very dear friend!

I think I'd like all these a lot. I'd be interested to see what those celebrities produce in the way of art, especially what their style is. The book about tiny houses looks quite interesting too.

Thanks for your comments, Tom! If it wasn’t for them I’d probably had erased this thread long ago! The celebrities book isn’t that good but, the one about tiny houses is fabulous and I’m sure you’d really enjoy it!

This was added in 2012: 128A beautiful, informative and quite enjoyable book about Opera. Bought at my favourite local bookstore.

Though I admire the vocal abilities, opera never managed to capture me. I do enjoy Malcolm McLaren's Madame Butterfly though.

Julio, how would you classify Dead Can Dance, the pastiche of your forum namesake? I've watched a few clips and while it's certainly not opera, I really can't put a name on what I've heard.

Well, my good friend, although they’re hard to classify I’ve always classified them as “Alternative”! …and certainly they’re not Opera, at all!

Amazing how "Alternative" usually just means anything not for mass-consumption or with extreme mass-popularity. Just think how different '90s alternative music was from early '80s? Have you ever seen Dead Can Dance live? From what I've read their following seems entranced by Lisa Gerrard...sort of in the same way some are mesmerized by an artist like Kate Bush?

I saw them at a concert here in Mexico, back during the 90s, just before they split, although they reunited again after a few years. It was an unforgettable event!

These two were added in 2014: 130An excellent book with lots of useful and very interesting information! 131This is a great book about one of my favourite contemporary Mexican artists. It was a gift from the artist, since I own one of his paintings and I lent it for a major retrospective in Mexico City’s Museum of Modern Art. Here’s a (bad) photo of the painting I have:

Better a bad photo of a good painting, than a good photo of a bad painting
The thread continues to be interesting
