Sell the house, move to Pennsylvania, live like a king. Thanks for the kind suggestion, Alex, as Pennsylvania sure does look like a nice spot to visit at the right time of year, but I like it all-year-round right here in warm, sunny Sydney. We get all four season here, that's for sure. Autumn is the best time to visit. We live in south central PA. You can get a lot of house for you money here. We travel quite a bit and we can be at BWI in less than an hour, so that's nice.

That hits close to my heart Alex. I'm a Florida native and feel like I'm being priced out of the state. I was a longtime homeowner and still an landowner, but so much has changed post-covid with real estate, construction prices etc I wonder where this is going to land? Still NOT a buyer's market for anything and the patience is being very tested for plans I started to make years ago... PA is nice if you can take the winters.

Some I did not notice this thread until now. I really enjoyed seeing where people live. Here are 14 photos from my town, Olympia, Washington. Olympia is he capitol of Washington State and is situated at the southern terminus of the Puget Sound (a glacially carved inland saltwater sea). I moved here in 1988 to attend the Evergreen Stae Collage and never left. Nice pictures Michael. I have always enjoyed our visits there. Still have family there. I miss the Olympia brewery. It was a great stop on trips North to Vancouver. The Bock beer in the tasting room was great and only available there. 😀

Adding to the stories here, home for my wife and I is Perth, a city of ~2million people on the west coast of Australia. It frequently ranks as one of the world's most liveable cities, but is also known for being one of the most isolated capital cities in the world. The chrome and glass towers of the city centre are all largely build on the profits of mining. The vast majority of people here work in mining given Western Australia is one of the world's biggest producers of minerals - iron ore, gold, diamonds and a variety of specialty metals. I've worked in the city for a large part of my working life, so living close to the city to minimise my commute has always been important. You don't have to go too far out of town though and you quickly enter green, leafy suburbs. This is one of many cafes in my area, a 10 - 15 minute drive from the city (you can see the skyline in the background), where you'll often find me enjoying a morning coffee by the river on weekends. Heading west from our place, we're also only a 10 minute drive from the port precinct of Fremantle, a lively entertainment district full of interesting shops, museums, cafes, bars and restaurants. For tourists and locals alike, ranking equally with Fremantle are our white sand beaches like Cottesloe which stretch the length of the coast.

Very nice photos Ian and Michael, I feel quite envious. A neighbour has just returned from a trip to Perth, they very much enjoyed it. I have a friend who lives in Seville Grove which I believe is a suburb of Perth.
